Buffalo leather is the name given to water buffalo. Among the typical livestock leathers (sheep, goat, cow, and water buffalo), buffalo leather is characterized by its exceptionally strong grain (surface). Buffalo leather's appearance varies greatly depending on the part of the leather, such as the back, legs, neck, and stomach. The base tanning process is a combination of chrome and tannin, which combines the strength and durability of chrome tanning with the patina characteristic of tannin tanning. During dyeing, pigment is dripped onto the leather and then shaken in a papermaking-like manner, allowing more pigment to penetrate the recessed areas, creating color variations and shading. This special dyeing method achieves a unique, deep hue. The resulting color variations are the product of chance, and no two pieces are alike, making each piece unique. [Aftercare] As the hides already contain sufficient oil, basic care is simply wiping them dry. If you notice the leather drying out after use, apply leather wax or protective cream as needed. If you add too much oil, the leather may become too soft, so be careful with the amount used.
