Incorporating a Mkiii version of the vintage germanium-based circuit, the Bender Royale captures the brilliantly saturated sound of the original, opening up a world of fuzz tones ranging from thick and smooth to brash and sputtery. Whether you're into messy fuzz or big, fat, saturated tones, the Bender Royale will take you there. The original three-knob control set includes VOL, FUZZ, and BASS knobs. VOL controls output, FUZZ adjusts input gain, and BASS acts as a passive bass frequency, going from full-bore to tight, bass-heavy response. These controls already give you a highly versatile pedal perfect for huge rhythm tones and ripping leads. Leading the way in modern upgrades is the massive FAT switch, which adds a big bass and low-mid boost for the perfect thickening tonal response. The CLIP switch changes the clipping structure of the germanium transistor final stage. Switching the transistor's bias diode from Ge to LED adds a rougher, more rambunctious edge to the tone, truly highlighting the unpolished vibe of previous fuzz pedals. The BIAS control takes the fuzz from smooth to sputtery. Adjusting the overall circuit voltage creates an addictive, gated, lippy tone that tickles your fuzz bones. TREBLE is an active treble shelf filter used to tame high frequencies. Use the BLEND knob to mix a clean signal into the sound, maintaining attack and clarity when used with other dirt sources, or keeping the low end clean and clear when bending the bass tone. The Bender Royale features a mechanical true bypass switch with a soft footswitch that employs latching and momentary action. Click the footswitch for standard latching behavior, or hold the footswitch for more than half a second to momentarily activate the footswitch and release. It switches back on at times, useful for quick bursts of fuzz or clean. The pedal is 9V powered and accepts standard EHX 9 volt power supplies.
