The Gokosho (five-pronged vajra) is known as a representative ritual implement of esoteric Buddhism. It was introduced from China as a type of vajra, and is said to have been possessed by the Japanese ambassador Kukai. Originally serving as a weapon, it later became a ritual implement representing the virtue of Buddhist wisdom, and is said to be used for self-defense, warding off evil spirits, and destroying all worldly desires and suffering.
