It is based on Miyazaki's manga of the same name (``Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind''), which was serialized in Animage. Looking at the seven volumes of the original manga, it is a work that was serialized until the middle of the second volume, which is the beginning, and the content is different from the manga that resumed serialization after the movie was released (described later). It was made into a film by a production committee between Tokuma Shoten, which publishes Animage, and Hakuhodo, an advertising agency, and was directed and written by Miyazaki himself.
