Unlike fresh or preserved sakaki leaves, silk sakaki flowers (artificial flowers) do not wither, so they do not require maintenance such as water changes, making them hassle-free. They do not have an unpleasant odor and will stay clean even in hot weather. They are recommended not only for home use, but also for company and office Shinto altars.
We have received positive feedback from a variety of customers, including those who feel bad for the gods when their sakaki branches wither so quickly, people of an older age who feel anxious every time they have to replace their high-placed Shinto altar, and company employees who find it a burden to regularly purchase and replace sakaki branches.
Although they are artificial flowers, the leaves are thick, have a realistic luster, and even the veins are reproduced, making them look like the real thing when offered at a Shinto altar. Each bunch uses three branches, or six branches per pair, so they have a lot of leaves and are voluminous.
Each sakaki is handcrafted in Japan (Yamakyu, Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture) while checking the fullness of the leaves. The stems are secured with floral tape, making them easy to use and less likely to get caught in the vase. We've included a cylindrical sponge to secure the sakaki in place, ensuring it looks beautiful in a vase, so it can be used with even larger sakaki stands.
The CT catalyst treatment provides deodorizing, antibacterial, air-purifying, and anti-fouling properties, preventing dust from adhering to the sakaki. Unlike photocatalytic treatments, it is effective even in places with little light. Dimensions: Height 33cm x Width 20cm (approximately 23cm above water).
Since Sakaki is an evergreen tree that grows abundantly, it seems to have the meanings of "sakaki" (thriving tree), "flourishing tree," and "tree that marks the boundary between gods and humans."
