Product Introduction
Shigaraki ware is pottery made in Shigaraki Town, a mountain village in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. It is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns and has a history spanning over 1,200 years.
It was designated a traditional craft by the government in 1976 (Showa 51).
The pottery, with its diverse shapes and expressions born from nature and artisans, is imbued with the sincerity and playfulness of masters who value "imbalance."
The "Hechimon" (registered trademark) comes from a Shigaraki artisan's term meaning "unusual objects."
The plump form and texture of the clay exude a warmth.
As these pots are handmade, slight variations in size, color, and pattern may occur.
Not dishwasher safe or microwave safe.
