Kaico x Sumida Ward "Omineratan" The triangular spout and tip allow for delicate water droplets We paid particular attention to the "hole" inside the main body that connects to the spout, and thoroughly examined the flow of hot water. Designed by furniture designer Makoto Koizumi IH (electromagnetic cooker) compatible "Kaico Rattan" was born from baristas' feedback. Enamel is made from iron. Due to its excellent thermal conductivity, the handle heats up over time after pouring hot water. While a bare-handed handle is sufficient for one or two home brews, a professional brewing multiple cups in a row requires constant cooling, necessitating the use of mitts or a cloth. Since it's something to use all day, we wanted to use a material we could grow attached to, and chose rattan. Rattan is a palm plant found primarily in Southeast Asia. It takes a great deal of effort to remove the thorns, peel the bark, and smooth the nodes to create a single piece. The rattan material is flexible and resistant to moisture and dryness. Wrapping it around the kettle handle makes it gentle on the hands, blocks heat, and enhances ease of use. Rattan wrapping is a designated craft of Tokyo and is meticulously crafted at Omineratan in Sumida Ward. "Kaico Rattan" was born from the voices of professionals, but we also want coffee lovers to use it. With use, rattan develops a glossy finish and turns amber, so you can enjoy the changes over time along with the skill of rattan craftsmanship.
