Product Introduction
Planned as a successor to the Zero fighter, the 17th Experimental Carrier Fighter (later named the Experimental Reppu) was, as the name suggests, a requirement submitted by the Navy in 1942. The design was hampered by the excessive performance requirements and limited engine choice. Furthermore, due to the preoccupation with the production and modification of the Zero fighter and Raiden, which were currently in service, the first prototype was not completed until April 1944. While its maneuverability and flight stability were highly praised during its maiden flight, its speed and climb performance fell far short of the required figures due to insufficient engine power. Modifications continued until the end of the war. The finished product measures 228mm long, 291mm wide, and contains approximately 80 parts. Includes standing figures of the pilot, mechanic, and officer seated in the cockpit.
