[Commentary] These six stories have a heartwarming atmosphere. "Beautiful Girl," about a girl Dazai encounters at a hot spring in Kofu; "Mangan," a comical portrayal of a wife's joy at the completion of her husband's tuberculosis treatment; "Story of a Snowy Night," a delightful exchange with his brother-in-law and his wife; "Skin and Heart," depicting the emotional turmoil of a girl with a facial lesion; "Female Student," a first-person account of her daily life as a female student; and "One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji," a masterpiece depicting a stay at Tokoku Pass in early autumn.
