This 1/64 scale model is a patrol car based on Mazda's rotary sports car, the RX-7 (FD3S). Deployed to multiple prefectures at national expense in the late 1990s, these vehicles have been retired for over 20 years, but the Niigata and Saitama Prefectural Police vehicles featured in this model are still in operation. While rarely used for enforcement, they are often seen at various events, such as the New Year's viewing ceremony. In recent years, Niigata Prefectural Police vehicles have also added the word "POLICE" to both doors.
