This is a special film version of the "Kamen Rider Kabuto" TV series...or rather, a parallel story created using the worldview and characters of "Kamen Rider Kabuto." While some characters are the same as those in the TV series, their backgrounds and affiliations differ, which may be somewhat confusing for fans of the TV series. Director Hidenori Ishida, who also served as the main director of the TV series, seems to have taken a slightly different approach this time, and it's disappointing that his usual vibrant touch is missing. The film centers around a three-way battle between Zect, Neo-Zect, and the Worms, but the characters simply seem to engage in a series of haphazard battles, making it unclear who will ultimately win and who will be defeated for a satisfying conclusion. Furthermore, the original Riders, Caucasus, Heracles, and Ketaros, lack the presence they deserve. The stunning CGI shot at the beginning, in which a horde of Worms floods Tokyo, hinted at a masterpiece... (Morihiko Saito)
