Utagawa Hiroshige is a representative ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period. His bold, three-dimensional compositions and vibrant colors, especially the beautiful blue, are known as "Japan Blue" or "Hiroshige Blue," and he enjoys enduring popularity in Europe and the United States. This calendar features the Hoeido edition of "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido" (a total of 55 prints from Nihonbashi in Edo to Sanjo Bridge in Kyoto), which catapulted Hiroshige to fame, as well as seven masterpieces from "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo," which had a profound influence on Western artists such as Van Gogh.
