[Contents] The fifth-generation Sprinter debuted in 1983. This generation saw the sedan and the two- and three-door sporty Trueno models use completely different platforms. The former was the first Sprinter to feature front-wheel drive (FF), while the Trueno retained the traditional rear-wheel drive (FR). This was the last Trueno model, and the AE92 followed. This was the last FF model, making it beloved by street racers as the last FR car, and later, during the drift boom, it was treated as a "god car." The Hot Wheels car is based on the car featured in the drag race scene in the fourth installment of the "Fast & Furious" series, "Fast & Furious: The Max." Since the AE86 was not sold under the Sprinter Trueno name in the US, the car featured in the film is technically a Corolla GT-S, but Hot Wheels recreates the Japanese version. While the car featured in the film features black overfenders, the fenders are painted black for a striking touch.
