Mobile Suit Gundam, the enduringly popular anime that revolutionized the robot anime genre, continues to this day. This third installment in the series begins immediately after the sequel, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, which aired five years after the first series in 1979-80.
With the three-way war between AEUG, Titans, and Axis finally over, the damaged Argama heads to Shangri-La Colony for rest. Amid the storm of economic depression caused by the war, Judau, a young boy scavenging for scrap metal, and his friends contact the Argama in an attempt to steal the Zeta Gundam, marking a new chapter in the story. In a stark departure from previous installments, this work is more dense, featuring a comedic twist and a battle against the more aggressive Haman-led Axis. (Gen Tanaka)
