Food supplement in powder form containing inositol (myo-inositol), also known as vitamin B8, that is found in high concentrations in the brain and is involved in many biochemical processes in the body. Myo-inositol is the most common form of inositol and plays the largest role among other forms, being a hormone messenger precursor.
Do you want to support the proper functioning of insulin and fertility? In addition to having proper eating habits, regular physical activity and caring for sleep, think about inositol supplementation. The most important form of inositol in the body is myo-inositol. This form is a component of cell membranes, functions as a precursor of hormonal transmitters and mediates in many biochemical processes necessary to maintain health and well-being.
Inositol is considered to be vitamin B8, although it is partly produced in the body, and partly we have to provide it with the diet. In our brain, the level of myo-inositol reaches a concentration of up to 15 times higher than in the blood[1]. Inositol, by regulating the activity of nerve and glial cells, affects the maintenance of normal brain functions. The imbalance of myo-inositol in the brain can negatively affect well-being and good mood[2]. The substance plays an important role in glucose metabolism, which makes it important for maintaining fertility and optimal energy levels during the day. Inositol is involved in the mechanism of insulin signalling, affecting the maintenance of normal glycemia and insulin sensitivity[1]. Adequate glucose and insulin levels are essential for maintaining healthy, blemish-free skin. By mediating the synthesis of hormones in the ovaries, inositol affects the proper maintenance of ovarian function, fertility and ovulation[3]. Supplementation with myo-inositol may have a positive effect on maintaining normal concentrations of total cholesterol and triglycerides, which is extremely important for the metabolic health of the body[4]. There are several factors that can lead to a decrease in inositol in the body: disturbances in glucose and insulin concentrations, caffeine consumption, disturbances in the intestinal microbiome, as well as magnesium deficiency[1]. There are many sources of myo-inositol in food products and they include: fruits, vegetables, legumes, eggs, cereal products, nuts.
