Connecting two coils in series rather than parallel results in a significantly different tone. In a Telecaster with two pickups, traditional parallel wiring provides relatively consistent output across all three positions. Switching to series wiring produces a higher output and a richer tone. Both wiring options are available with a 4-position switch. Our wiring kits SS2 and SS3 are very similar, but the switch positions for series connection differ. In SS3, the series connection is assigned to position 3. This layout is slightly closer to a standard Telecaster compared to Fender's layout. • Position 4: Neck pickup • Position 3: Bridge + Neck pickups (series) • Position 2: Bridge + Neck pickups (parallel) • Position 1: Bridge pickup

When using reverse wound, reverse polarity pickups, hum-canceling effects can be achieved at positions 2 and 3.
