The Vulpine is a gravel reworking of a proven semi-skid mountain tread with years of performance under its belt.. Angled center knobs create a nearly continuous centerline that reduces rolling resistance, while its round tire profile is filled with short, tightly spaced knobs to provide predictable cornering grip on hard surfaces.. Providing a constant speed, the large center knobs make the Vulpine very wear resistant and increase its lifespan compared to other gravel tires.
- The Vulpine is the latest racing addition to WTB's beloved gravel tire lineup.. Densely spaced center lugs form a nearly continuous centerline to reduce rolling resistance, while the rest of the tread is filled with short lugs to further enhance efficiency, minimize the likelihood of punctures and provide predictable cornering grip.. Vulpine prioritizes maximum efficiency without sacrificing grip when climbing or braking, and is the ideal tire for gravel racers looking to lead, as well as for everyday riders seeking an efficient tire that performs excellently on many surfaces, including asphalt, hardpack, and gravel.
Effective placement of protrusions:
- The densely spaced center lugs create a virtually continuous centerline that reduces rolling resistance, while the rest of the tread is filled with short lugs to further enhance efficiency and minimize punctures.
Fast Central Line:
- The Vulpine's smooth rolling surface reduces rolling resistance and increases tread durability, resulting in a longer life than other gravel tires.
Round profile:
- The overall tread pattern mimics a high-volume road tire, ensuring consistent cornering confidence on various surfaces and in different conditions.
Black or brown sidewalls:
- It's nice to have a choice, so most of our gravel tires are available with black or brown sidewalls. Traditional black sidewalls tend to blend in with the bike's components and wheels and may look sleeker to some riders.. WTB tanwall tires combine retro style with modern technologies, creating an iconic look that has become synonymous with high-performance gravel. If we put that aside, gram counters might choose our brown-brown tires because the compounds used to make them are slightly lighter than those used for producing black sidewalls.
Compatible with tubeless tires:
- TCS (Tubeless Compatible System) - is a standardized tubeless system WTB. These tires feature a TCS tubeless casing that virtually eliminates punctures and allows lower tire pressures for improved traction and comfort compared to traditional tube-type tires.
About TSC:
- WTB's patented tubeless sealing system, TCS (Tubeless Compatible System,) revolutionized rims and tires in 2009 by combining ETRTO, ISO and UST standards with lightweight tubeless rotating weights. Never before has a standards-based tubeless system weighed so little. Certified by Mavic in 2012 as the first sealant-based tire for the UST system, TCS continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with purpose-built tires and rims designed specifically for each cycling discipline.
TCS light fast rolling (LFR):
- A fast and efficient centerline tread compound combined with low-duty, sticky side lugs cover a flexible, gram-oriented carcass designed to be compatible yet off-road capable.
DUAL DNA rubber compound:
- Dual DNA is the perfect combination of performance, grip and durability. The center line of the tread features a harder rubber compound that boasts faster rolling and increased durability, while the side lugs are made up of a softer, slower rebounding rubber that improves control and traction.
SG2 puncture protection:
- TCS Light single-ply mountain tyres available with SG2 puncture protection. SG2 is a lightweight nylon layer that protects all areas of the tire with an extra level of puncture and crush protection. The SG2 bead-to-bead design also improves sidewall stability and overall tire support without the added weight of a rigid (two-layer) frame. The flat nylon fibres in SG2 reduce the amount of rubber required to fill the spaces between the fibres compared to traditional round fibre backing layers.. Increased fiber to rubber ratio improves puncture resistance while reducing weight and improving flexibility compared to our rigid carcasses. Tests conducted in a third-party laboratory showed that the SG2 bead-to-bead provides 80% greater sidewall protection than traditional single-layer tires without SG2.
