Product Introduction
Dried natto is especially famous from Ibaraki and Tochigi, but another well-known variety is Kumamoto's dried natto, "Korumae." It is still handmade and cherished in households as a local flavor, occasionally featured on television.
This product represents the traditional taste of Korumae, made with Kyushu-grown soybeans and carefully prepared seasonings. The packaging ingredients list is very simple, but in reality, the seasoning is applied twice during the drying process of the natto base, with additional spicy and rich finishing touches, and finally, the surface is thoroughly coated with wheat flour to complete the product. (A characteristic of Korumae is that the surface of the beans is completely covered with wheat flour, making the beans themselves no longer visible.)
It features a quite strong flavor and spiciness, making it ideal as a snack with shochu or as a topping for rice porridge.
