Ziricote.Ziricote (Cordia dodecandra) is one of the most beautiful and exotic woods due to its color and richness of grain. It is a hard and very durable wood. Ziricote is also characterized by its interesting grain, beautiful deep brown color that transitions to gold or even red, and distinctive, irregular texture. Ziricote is harvested primarily from Central America, with Mexico considered its homeland. It is a very expensive wood – due to its rarity, very limited licenses are issued annually to allow its harvesting. Ziricote is used to craft exclusive instruments, sculptures, and artistic woodwork. It is a very easy-to-work wood. Planed surfaces are smooth and have a beautiful, intense shine.
