Located deep in the mountains of Yamanaka Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture, Shirasagi Woodworks has been crafting everyday tableware, including circular wooden bowls, trays, and round trays, with a focus on the traditional craft of Yamanaka lacquerware.
Craftsmen with highly skilled lathe skills are on staff, and they are one of the few companies responsible for purchasing and processing logs, accounting for 50% of the raw materials used in Yamanaka lacquerware, which is made from natural wood. Using only domestically sourced wood, they handle everything from cutting the logs to finishing sawing.
Using a cutting method called "vertical wood," the beautiful wood grain is revealed, resulting in a natural finish that allows customers to enjoy it. Their designs complement both Japanese and Western cuisine.
While individual products will vary, color and grain cannot be specified.
